[6/3] Weekly Play #14

March 7th, 2010

What, you thought I’d stopped doing this feature? Nononono, it just so happens I’ve only had one comment on #13 after all this time, and Weekly Play only works if you guys comment… so do so! Please? ;_;

Unfortunately, I’m currently without any consoles apart from a DS, and away from my gaming PC (Typing on a borrowed laptop, thanks Rhys) so what I’ve been playing is quite boring. Pretty much consists of over 40 hours of Pokémon Ruby, because clearly I’m hardcore. Or sad. One of those, it’s just how I roll.

And now, it’s time for your comments!

[13/2] Weekly Play #13

February 13th, 2010

Welcome to a very special edition of Weekly Play, in that it’s the MOST late it’s ever been, hooray! Sorry for the delay, seems everyone decided to take some time off without telling anyone else.

Since the last post, I’ve been using the Raptr gaming service, which I’ll comment on further in a rant-esque post soon, but it does mean remembering what I’ve been playing becomes a whole lot easier. So, I’ve played roughly:

19 hours of Left4Dead 2
12 hours of Half-Life 2
8 hours of Left4Dead
4 hours of Bejeweled Blitz
4 hours of CounterStrike: Source
3 hours of Pokémon Fire Red

[21/1] Weekly Play #12

January 21st, 2010

After a week skip (Tut-tut), Weekly Play is back, and slightly better than just as bad as ever! But I’m here now to oh-so-easily lighten up your day, so welcome to Weekly Play 12: WITH A RELOADED VENGEANCE!

This week in gaming has been a rather interesting and varied one for me. We’ve got some old RTS in there, with Age of Empires II: Conquerors, which was and still is an amazing game, especially if you can get it to work online, to hear the punishing screams of those who die 2 hours into a game. Unfortunately, I couldn’t relive those days because my potential opponents were running Windows 7, and it would seem AoE II isn’t compatible with it. If you know otherwise, do drop us a comment with some hints, I miss playing humans. I would’ve probably been beaten anyway, rendering me unable to relive those days regardless of successfully running the thing, but hey, I could at least try.

Steam games got a look in this week too, pumped some time into L4D again, with zxPie, JMB22 and Ben. Good times! Still wish I’d picked up the sequel whilst it was a little cheaper, but s’all good. Finally got Counterstrike: Source installed too, so I’ve been practising with that. Damn am I awful, but it’s good fun. Definitely need to organise some MOREtotheGAME matches there, even if we do end up dominated by Harper and co. Totally been beta-testing something TOTALLY SECRET on Steam too, but I can’t talk about that. *Shuts up*

[7/1] Weekly Play #11

January 7th, 2010

Greetings loyal weeklyplayonites, how were your respective Christmases?

Obviously very good, because no-one had time to comment on little-ol’ last installment. Well, two people did. SO I SHALL TALK ABOUT THEM!

Jonobrow has been playing allsorts, Borderlands, Forza 3, COD4, Dynasty Warriors 6… why he has a plethora of potential comments, but instead raged about my overtaking his character level in Borderlands. Sorry Joe! ;)

Bumblebee_Prime has been playing with voice controls in games, exciting I hear you say? Why yes it is, so much so I can get away with a mere paste.

[18/12] Weekly Play #10

December 18th, 2009

Hello and welcome to a slightly late, but very special 10th Weekly Play. That’s totally 10 weeks you’ve make an article with your comments, guys!

I’ve continued to hammer Borderlands, into playthrough 2 with my lovely level 42 hunter. I think I’m  probably going to cry when I eventually hit the level cap… or it’ll give me an excuse to get into my other characters. Finally taken it online (A hunter with Ben’s Beserker and A Siren with Ben’s Beserker and zx/Brett’s Soldier) and it’s here where the game really shines. I’d recommend you complete a playthrough on your own before you venture online with friends who have done so, because you’ll find yourself left in the dirt as they collect scavenger parts in seconds. It’s a beautiful thing to work through the beginning Fyrestone missions with people who know them off by heart, people waiting by objectives as the mission is started, collected and handed in within seconds. Lovely stuff, gonna pick up the DLC in the new year.

Now, the other games I’ve been playing are pretty far removed from the online tech deliciousness of Borderlands. As an early Christmas present from Brett, I’ve been playing Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 on an original MegaDrive (That’s Genesis for those across the pond). Oh my, it’s lovely. Why did I ever get rid of mine?
