After a week skip (Tut-tut), Weekly Play is back, and slightly better than just as bad as ever! But I’m here now to oh-so-easily lighten up your day, so welcome to Weekly Play 12: WITH A RELOADED VENGEANCE!
This week in gaming has been a rather interesting and varied one for me. We’ve got some old RTS in there, with Age of Empires II: Conquerors, which was and still is an amazing game, especially if you can get it to work online, to hear the punishing screams of those who die 2 hours into a game. Unfortunately, I couldn’t relive those days because my potential opponents were running Windows 7, and it would seem AoE II isn’t compatible with it. If you know otherwise, do drop us a comment with some hints, I miss playing humans. I would’ve probably been beaten anyway, rendering me unable to relive those days regardless of successfully running the thing, but hey, I could at least try.
Steam games got a look in this week too, pumped some time into L4D again, with zxPie, JMB22 and Ben. Good times! Still wish I’d picked up the sequel whilst it was a little cheaper, but s’all good. Finally got Counterstrike: Source installed too, so I’ve been practising with that. Damn am I awful, but it’s good fun. Definitely need to organise some MOREtotheGAME matches there, even if we do end up dominated by Harper and co. Totally been beta-testing something TOTALLY SECRET on Steam too, but I can’t talk about that. *Shuts up*
Finally I’ve been hooked to Bubble Tanks Tower Defence, because it’s amazing. I’ll probably end up Flash Fridaying it at some point, so watch out for that.
Right, I guess it’s time for your comments now, isn’t it?
Why yes, yes it is.
“I got Left 4 Dead 2 after christmas so I have been playing that alot. BRILLIANT GAME” - Jonobrow
“I have also been overplaying the left for dead 2 demo whilst I am waiting for swapgame to send me off a copy” - Dazza
“What did I play this week then… …OH YEAH! L4D2 demo online :D” - Bumblebee_Prime
“And finally due to the new 360 I went on the L4D2 demo with Toby, Daryl and Sam” – zxPie
You know what, correct me if I’m wrong, but there might be a pattern emerging here. Yes, looks like MTTGians have been dabbling in the art of Left4Dead 2, …on 360 ;_; Get it on PC you fools! You’ve got the game down, now the platform kthx.
Jonobrow also mentions Assassins Creed 2 (Heh, I said ass… twice), the Prince of Persia Trilogy and Half-life 2. All of which he intends to review soon. Suuuure. In his defence, he did indeed write a review of L4D2 for us, which you can find here.
Dazza and zxPie have both acquired 360′s recently, so have been playing things on those. Fable 2, L4D2 and the like. Good times.
Bumblebee_Prime goes back a game to Assassins Creed 1:
“I’ve also been playing Assassin’s Creed just to catch up with the storyline. Why did no-one ever mention jumping off a building into a group of guards (attacking an innocent person), assassinating one with the assassin blade, drawing my sword and killing another before the other two have time to react, then turning to the others like come on then, was so fun?!” - Bumblebee_Prime
Oh, and zx’s been playing some old PS1 classics:
“Crash, Spyro and Medievil are exactly as I remember them, floods of childhood happiness went through me as I played and enjoyed them again. Though finding the last object in these games still frustrates me.” - zxPieSqrd
And that concludes your comments, because pasting 4 similar opinions of L4D2 is too dull for me to consider doing, let alone typing. It’s pretty good, and Joe’s a bastard on it, would be the general gist of it.
Now then!
Because I like headers.
That’ll be all from Weekly Play 12 (Liverpool 1), all that’s left is for me to unashamedly whore myself out to you for comments. 12 lines of opinion and I’ll be at your house in minutes, offering you my extensive skillset to do with what you please. I’ll sarcastically put you down all day baby. I’m from the internet, it’s what I do.
<3
Not much change since the last week except for I have the full L4D2 now and have been playing it constantly with Alex, Joe and my brother sometimes on splitscreen. Got half of the achievements now. Doubt I’ll get them all (Mainly to do with Complete all campaigns on expert and survive a campaign on expert with realism mode enabled).
Did go on Lego Rock Band for an hour to get some more trophies (when I had remembered I had a PS3 that is) at about 50% on that too now. Starting to get a bit crap after having not played Rock Band or GH for a long while.
While you’ve been playing Age of Empires, I’ve rediscovered Civilization III, a game with similar objectives but completely different gameplay; turn-based rather than real time. I’d forgotten how addictive it can be.
As mentioned above, I’ve been playing a little Left4Dead and Counterstrike:Source, whenever I can find people to play with. I still need a lot more time on L4D to become anywhere near good at it.
Also, we’ve taken my Dad’s old Atari 1040ST out of storage, so expect some retrocity articles on games from that machine in the next few months. I’ve mostly been playing Rainbow Islands on it this week, a vertically scrolling platform game.
I have also found time to play on a few online games, so much so that I could probably have a pretty good attempt at Flash Friday articles by now. Most notably I have rediscovered one of my favourites from a few years ago, Need For Madness. In this game you drive vehicles and can win a level either by finishing the race first, or ‘wasting’ (smashing to pieces) all your opponents.
As Daryl said we’ve been on L4D2. To be honest I have finally ressurected my RPG on the pc, its now a full 20 mins in a speed run. I also went on COD 4 for the first time in months. Very few people on there now :P
Awesome, Jowan :D
You’re -more- than welcome to write some FlashFriday stuff, I’ve been lagging behind with it.
I might do at some point. But I’m not going to be carrying your burden today. Nice try… :P
Hehe, curses. I’m still sat here trying to get to the later stages of what was going to be today’s FF article.
More Assassin’s Creed.
That is all :P
Not really :P, I ve been trying to complete the game in one go apart from the flags and achievements, I can do those later. The guards have finally got a bit smarter and can actually get a hit every so often :D. I like the challenge, but I can still just kill them quickly with a counter move so meh. I also like the fact I had to assassinate someone, who could out run me even though he had two throwing knives sticking out of his back :P.
Altair’s climbing speed is still annoying and I’ve given up trying to out run guards I just fight until they’re all dead, not so fast but easier to lose them :D. Hopefully I’ll be onto Assassin’s Creed 2 by next week :D
Don’t do it Jowan, today it’s just one article, next he’ll dump the whole feature on you :P
EDIT: Oh lol, didn’t see that second post. I just scrolled to comment as soon as Tom said you are welcome to.
XD
Heh, I’d never dump Flash Friday on someone!
I love Flash gaming <3
Right, first of some games I’ve played recently is on my Raptr profile (http://raptr.com/zxpiesqrd) which will from now on be the source of my games played in a week.
However, I’ve managed to grab get onto L4D and CS:S enjoying shooting people and zombies :P (Also yay fail L4D Vs team, we suck \o/)
