What’s that? Weekly Play? Why yes, yes it is being released on time. Hoorah!
Yes, Weekly Play. The lovely staple of MOREtotheGAME where I attempt to write your comments into an entire article… what a feat to attempt, eh? I tell you, it’s hard with the number of comments we get you lazy b- HEY! So, let’s write the post then Tom. You know you want to.
And you know why I want to? Because when I’m done writing I can go back to playing Borderlands. Damn that game is good fun. Level 29 Hunter/Gunslinger right now, with some absolutely bitchin’ elemental sniper rifles and a seemingly overpowered low capacity revolver for close range head popping.
In short, win. That’s the single player too, I’ve only ventured online today with a certain Mr Forbes, and I’m impressed. Even if I had to forward a pile load of ports and play through GameRanger to even get it working… it’s fun is what it is! And the difficulty adjusts accordingly, depending on how many people are playing at a time. I’m loving the fact you can pretty much spread apart across an entire section, seeings as we knew the first few missions off by heart, we ended up staying at the hand-in point and around the objectives, hammering through them. Lovely.
Anyway, that’s all for a possibly future review. I’ll boil it down to Borderlands = Yes.
Now, shall we get into the actual meat of Weekly Play? Only 5 paragraphs in of course, can’t say I don’t get straight to the point. COMMENTS!
“Well, It’s easy to begin with. So far I’ve only played through the Batman and Robin missions, and I’ve got the Super Hero part (collecting a certain amount of single Lego pieces – “coins”) in every level. With no lives you can’t die, you just lose some “coins”. I only had to replay one level because i realised how easy it was to get Super Hero and actually tried the next time.
Couple of bad points though. The first frame of every cutscene is displayed for about 5 seconds before it loads. But the worst thing has to be the gameplay mechanics (if thats what you call them). They’re exactly the same as Lego Star Wars and apparently Lego Indiana Jones. I hate the camera view, because you can’t change it. But i don’t care.
It’s a great game if you want a bit of fun. If you’re looking for a more serious game, I would look elsewhere.” – Toby on LEGO Batman
“Got Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 recently. I never played the original, but some people say it’s a bit samey. I like the story, although it sends two rival messgaes – one is “Lol explosions!” the other – “War is teh serious!” The fact that you can shoot an automatic pistol whilst driving a snowmobile off a giant ramp, sort of detracts from the serious tone that it’s pushing. Nevertheless, I found it enjoyable, particularly the last couple of levels.
The main campaign lasts about 5-6 hours, the rest of the game you’ll be focusing on multiplayer with its ever present addictive rewards system, the ‘pimp my gun’ feature will keep an idiot like me fascinated for weeks.” – Martin on COD:MW2
“I have also got Borderlands and been playing that alot. Online is brill especially when you have 3 teammates who can fast level you” – Joe agrees with me, because I am right and Border”lands is win
“Leaping over cover, aiming down and blasting a bandit in the head with the revolver for a one shot kill is possibly the most awesome thing ever.” – Me, on Borderlands, because I’m not obsessing over it at all
“I’ve been replaying gears of war 2. The first time round it was crap, and once again this time round it is crap. I’ve begun to play it again just to see weather in time it got better, but no it didn’t. Admittedly, the game play is rather good, but the story line is so bad it’s actually funny.” – Katie on GOW2
Aaand finaly comments wise…
“WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN! ^.^” - Katie on Dead Rising, a statement I highly agree with.
And that’s it for this week, all that’s left is the regular comment whoring (please comment or I’ll cry) and to poke you all into the forum, where there are some lonely Photoshop contests.
See you next time! o/
Thanks for all the comments last week, some more would be nice ;)
This week I have been playing “Read/Watch Twilight Without Your Brain Melting”. I completed the game…just. Brain melted shortly after completion.
I have also been playing “The Game”. Yeah, I lost.
I’ve still been storming DJ Hero, up to Expert difficulty now – would like less pure rap mixes [as in, a rap song mixed with another rap song] next time, but the balance of tunes is pretty well done. Also started Bioshock, and WHAT A GAME! Why didn’t I start this sooner? YEAH, FRY, MOTHERFUCKER.
I also downloaded the epic Nirvana Rock Band DLC, and played the INCREDIBLY lacking Fairytale Fights demo from PSN, which is just a blank room, and 1:30 to kill enemies. Looks more like a concept demo. Lame. Was very close to picking the thing up in GameStation though…
MEDIUM SHIRT PLZ
I have been playing Forza 3 quite alot recently, online and offline this is one of the greatest racing games of all time. At elast the best simulation racing games. Unfortunately, seeign as the majority of people on this website have PS3′s or PCs, this is an XBOX exclusive game. You’ll never get a taste of how good this game is.
Hopefully soon i will have a funny video of me somehow flipping a car like crazy as I go round a corner.
I’ve been playing inFamous, I know it’s an old game but I’ve borrowed it from someone. This was released around the same time as prototype and is a similar type of game, but I can say that I do prefer this much more.
Before this I had been playing the new ratchet and clank, but given up cause I got stuck. (Yes I’ve been playing through on hard to get all trophies in one play-through).
OK, once again as promised, (and once again late) I have played Pure.
WHAT A LOAD OF MEH.
First two sets of races are at the perfect difficulty level but then the difficulty level skyrockets. First freestyle level I got 50000 points for a special trick and win with the opponents having earned 10000 points. Second level I got 10000 points for the special trick and they win with 30000 points… (most other tricks are worth bascially nothing unless you combo but decent jumps arent that close together)
I have to complement the quad designing area though. Its awesome until you get to What grips would you like? and What colour would you like the insignificant pieces of metal to be? GTFO, I DONT CARE!
Views are nice to but tbh im a bit busy trying not to lose to care.
Also been playing Ratchet and Clank:Size Matters.
Without R2 and L2 this game has been ruined. Strafe is automatic, camera angle does not stick to the back of Ratchet so you have to always adjust it yourself, not helpful while trying to dodge bullets, as you turn with the camera back into the bullets.
All in all, I would avoid these games. But im still going to complete Ratchet and clank for the sheer hell of it.
(I really should play a game I actually like for a change.)
Right, I had time to play this week though still only low spec retro games. (Did get a go on Borderlands though but I think we have covered that enough:P)
Well I went back to my DOS gaming roots this week (see the Retrocity article) and played the first Warcraft… and then realized I hate single click systems on RTS games and played the second one.
Well It’s exactly as I remember it. A simple RTS game with catchy music and lovely cel shaded graphics. Well I shall not say anymore as I think I’ll use this in a couple of weeks. Also yay for the 10th weekly play about to be done.
