Now’s your chance to sign up to test the upcoming social networking features that will appear on the Xbox 360 dashboard in the future. To apply, head on over to the application page and fill out your details, you’ll need the live account used with your gamertag and your console ID, so do make sure you have access to those.

From XBox.com:

  • We’re looking for several thousand participants, so your chances of making it in are good
  • This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available.
  • Just completing the survey does not automatically get you access to the Preview Program. We’ll be making final selections from the completed surveys and send you an email if you are selected.
  • While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
  • Zune: Zune comes to Xbox LIVE with instant-on 1080p HD streaming video on your console, delivering the selection of a video megastore with the convenience of cable.
  • Facebook: Facebook and Xbox LIVE join forces to connect you with your friends as you interact with the largest entertainment and gaming network on TV. Share real-time status updates with friends from around the globe, and check out photo galleries on the big screen from the comfort of your living room.
  • Twitter: Read, reply, and post Tweets to Twitter through Xbox LIVE. See what your friends and family are up to, connect to celebrities, learn about news as it happens, and follow online trends.

So there we are, looks like a nice update for anyone obsessive about their social networking. I wonder what the first game will be to implement some odd usage of Facebook/Twitter beyond tweeting “X just got Y achievement in Z!”

If you’re accepted, we’d love if you could send us your opinion on the new update!
